Tim Tebows longer than long-shot attempt at playing pro baseball continues as the former college football legend and NFL bust is starting at Designated Hitter for the Mets at a Spring Training game in Port St. Lucie against the Boston Red Sox today.
Tebows first look at major league pitching wont be a cake walk. He will be facing reigning AL Cy Young winner Rick Porcello. Porcello, who won 22 games and Kd a career-high 189 batters in 2016 will be a tough guy for Tebow to improve his .194 batting average that he posted for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League, whiffing 20 times in 64 at-bats.
After hitting a home run in his first minor league at-bat, Tebow cooled off considerably.

Even if Tebow hits two homers today, dont expect him to ultimately make the team. Why? Because manager Terry Collins said so:
Well, I dont think hes going to make our team.
Tebow signed a minor league deal with the Mets last summer, and is getting the start on Wednesday because 14 New York players are currently playing in the World Baseball Classic. Hes expected to be sent to the Mets Single-A affiliate when April rolls around. If anything, he still has this odd and almost cult-like celebrity status and he puts fans in the seats. At the very least, Tebow makes Spring Training a bit more interesting than usual.
