JR Todd might not be a household name outside of the NHRA community, but he soon looks to be.
Don’t know who he is? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We sat down with the rising star in the Top Fuel class of the NHRA Drag Racing Series a few weeks ago for an in-depth look at his life and career. Then we were fortunate enough to spend a day with him in Englishtown, NJ at the famous Raceway Park (tri-state fans know their long-time popular commercial jingle) to find out more about him. And by speaking with his Father, his team and watching him interact with his fans, you can see that the charismatic 34 year old has a bright future in pro drag racing, a sport in which he covers five city blocks in under four seconds while hitting speeds of over three hundred miles per hour.
Todd, the first African-American to win a Top Fuel race, currently sits in seventh place in the standings after finishing second at his last race in Norwalk, OH.
So make sure to remember his name and watch him race, because he’s bringing something special with him each time, a quarter mile at a time.
