Despite being smacked by Villanova last night in the Final Four, Sooners’ fans can take some solace in knowing that their team had the player of the year.
Buddy Hield, who averaged 25 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2 assists this season, was named winner of the 2016 Naismith Trophy today. Hield, the talk of the tournament this year, also boosted his shooting percentage from 41.2 percent last year to over 50 percent this year, including almost 46 percent from three-point land.

Although his defense needs some work, he’s a dynamic player and one that excites NBA scouts, so look for Hield to complement this trophy by being a top pick in this year’s draft.
