Today it was announced that former NBA player, and current basketball analyst Greg Anthony, was suspended indefinitely by CBS after being arrested on a charge of soliciation of a prostitute in a Washington D.C. hotel.
In response to the arrest, CBS released the following statement "Greg Anthony will not be working again for CBS this season." Turner Sports announced that they had suspended Anthony as well.
Anthony issued the following statement after his arrest:
"I made a mistake. With this lapse of judgment, I embarrassed many, including myself. I will work to regain the trust that I have lost, and the first step is saying I'm sorry."
According to the AP, Anthony was arrested on a charge of soliciting a prostitute inside a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Washington D.C. on Friday evening. He was in town to call the Michigan State-Maryland men's basketball game Saturday in College Park, Maryland.
Anthony was a starter on the '89-'90 UNLV team, featuring Larry Johnson and Stacey Augmon, that won the National Championship over the Duke Blue Devils, and he went on to play in the NBA for 11 years with teams such as the Knicks and the Trailblazers. Knicks fans will remember his infamous fight, and colorful shirt, against the Phoenix Suns in 1993.
With his recent arrest, Anthony now has a new fight on his hands.
