Xander Bogaerts Is Getting His Ticket To The Big Show Soon

The Boston Red Sox have been discussing the possibility of calling up Xander Bogaerts since spring training. However, since then the,  20-year-old shortshop's bat has become a WMD against Double and Triple A pitches. If the rumors are true, Bogaerts who is swinging the bat with authority will replace Brock Holt on the 25-man roster and would be the youngest position player to make his Red Sox debut since Dwight Evans in 1972.

Bogaerts has hit .297 with 15 home runs, 67 RBIs and an .865 OPS in 116 games for Double A Portland and Triple A Pawtucket this season

The righthanded hitter could also provide a boost for the Red Sox batting order against lefthanded pitchers. Bogaerts was hitting .298 with a .452 OBP, .474 slugging mark, 16 walks and just seven strikeouts in 73 plate appearances against lefties..
