English Premier League referees will no longer be struggling with whether or not a goal was scored on a particular play — a decision that should never hang in the balance —when the league introduces goal-line technology this season. The EPL are the first European league to introduce this new tech, as it is a way overdue addition to the sport.
FIFA, for no real good reason at all, was initially against goal-line technology, but flip-flopped after botched goal calls in the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012. The Premier League has wanted goal-line technology for a minute, and once other league start seeing how effective it is, I’m sure other major leagues will look to make innovations as well.
