Tim Tebow Cancels Sermon At Controversial Church

Tim Tebow has drawn an unhealthy does of criticism over the last week regarding the nature of his scheduled Sunday sermon at Dallas' First Baptist Church. However, on Thursday, Tebow finally relented to public pressure and announced via Twitter that he has cancelled his ill-advised speaking engagement.

 "While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ's unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance. I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day. Thank you for all of your love and support. God Bless!"

Yep, he typed that entire statement out in tweets. Tebow has to be careful who he associates with. Not only is his squeaky clean image an asset, but he may be jobless very soon as his options for next season appear to be drying up. If he’s not on an NFL roster next season, raking in endorsement money may be his main revenue.

The source of the controversy involving Tebow’s sermon from the pulpit involved the pastor Robert Jeffress’ intolerance and strong anti-gay stances. Jeffress says that on Wednesday night Tebow called him claiming he needed to “lay low” for a while. He may be able to do better than that. If the Jets release him into the NFL free agent wilderness without a prospective team, he may disappear from relevance.
