Movie critics are calling Uncut Gems Adam Sandler’s greatest moment on film, and too much surprise, Kevin Garnett’s acting debut at 43 years old is also being lauded. You may have read something along these line numerous times on your quest to convince yourself why you should go see this film.
But truth be told, it’s the truth.
The film is set in the diamond district of New York City and follows Sandler who plays a charismatic jeweler, Howard Ratner, who deals to the rich and famous.
Howard has a gambling addiction which has nearly ended his personal life, career and has also left him in hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. However, this doesn’t stop him from always looking out for the next big score.
But when Howard comes face to face with a potential payday and very interested high-profile buyer, the businessman may have to make a critical decision in his relentless hunt for the ultimate win.
With a star-studded cast including Lakeith Stanfield, Idina Menzel, Julia Fox, The Weeknd, Eric Bogosian, Uncut Gems shows you Sandler, 53, Stainfield, 28, Garnett like you’ve never seen them before
The Shadow League caught up with co-star Stanfield (Atlanta) who recalled his experience working with the star-packed cast and crew calling it “cool, we were all learning from each other.” The actor also jokingly talked about his favorite scene in the film where he kills a small animal saying, “I’d say killing the …. Because you know, it’s not in my character.”
The Get Out star also talked about the freedom that acting gives a person to do the things they normally wouldn’t do in real life. Lightheartedly saying, “I get to try out my dark twisted fantasies out.”
Stanfield has been making his round with notable projects such, Get Out, Sorry to Bother You, and his upcoming film with director and actress Issa Rae. He also revealed that he has been working on new music so be sure to be on the lookout for that.
Uncut Gems is currently out in theaters and also stars Judd Hirsch, Mike Francesa, and Keith William Richards and many more. This film was written and directed by brothers Josh and Benny Safdie, co-written by Ronald Bronstein and executive produced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Martin Scorsese.
