By now, it’s pretty apparent that Dr. Dre’s long-awaited “Detox” album is never going to happen. And it’s not like the good doctor has just been sitting at home either, as a recent report from Forbes listed him as the highest-earning musician over the decade, as he was $50 million short ($950 million) from making a billion.
Despite only releasing one album over the ten-year stretch (Compton), and hardly doing any touring, Dre was able to rake in more cash than other musicians due to Apple buying Beats Electronics back in 2014 for $3 billion.
The rest of the list included: Taylor Swift ($825 million), Beyoncé ($685 million), U2 (($675 million), Diddy ($605 million), Elton John ($565 million), Jay Z ($560 million), Paul McCartney ($535 million), Katy Perry ($530 million), and Lady Gaga ($500 million).
To keep things in perspective, Michael Jackson would have run away as the leader of this list if the money magazine ranked musicians that have passed away. Because according to their figures, Jackson’s estate earned $2.37 billion over the last decade.
