Could Melo’s Windy City Trade Lead Him To The Lakers?

Melo is being shuffled around like a deck of cards.

Carmelo Anthony is once again shuffled around like a deck of cards, and this time he’s being moved to the Windy City.

ESPN.com’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday that the Houston Rockets are trading the NBA All-Star to the Chicago Bulls.

And, of course, there is more to this trade story.

Anthony reportedly “won’t play a game for the Bulls,” according to Woj. The team reportedly plans to release the NBA veteran, which will make him a free agent if he clears waivers.

But, Wojnarowski added that the team may hold off on waiving him until the trade deadline. Chicago could include Melo in a one-for-one trade but “can’t aggregate his contract in another deal.”

The Houston-Chicago deal reportedly won’t be official until Tuesday. The Rockets have already waived James Nunnally to make room for Kenneth Faried.

This is the latest trade deal in the saga of “Where’s Carmelo Landing?”

The New York Knicks traded the veteran to Oklahoma City Thunder back in September 2017. Not long after, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, the team bought him out and soon after he joined the Houston Rockets.

And previously, Woj reported that both sides concluded it would be best to part ways after Rockets general manager Daryl Morey and head coach Mike D’Antoni acknowledge Carmelo Anthony is great but not a good fit for the team.

Could Anthony end up in Los Angeles alongside LeBron James? Is it possible that he’ll go to a different market?

The journey continues, but hopefully, he’ll get a chance to go out the right way.
