The NBA 2K League kicks off its first finals series ever between Heat Check Gaming and Knicks Gaming this upcoming weekend.
What started out with 72,000 hopeful gamers in February has now come down to the league’s Top 2 final teams. Both have had interesting runs leading up to this historical moment.
Knicks Gaming stunned everyone after winning THE TICKET tournament. The team entered the tourney as the third-lowest seed but pulled off four straight wins to take the title and secure a playoff berth. And of course, Knicks Gaming continued to steam right ahead in the NBA 2K League’s playoffs as the number eight seed. In another incredible upset fashion, the Knicks affiliate defeated top-seeded Blazer5 Gaming 82-78 in the quarterfinals followed by a hard-fought win against Cavs Legion GC.

The currently undefeated Heat Check Gaming eliminated two of the top three seeds (76ersGC and Pistons GT), on their path to the NBA 2K League Finals. Juan “Hotshot” Gonzalez has had incredible performances, and Miami’s in-sync defense/offense will prove to be a true test for their finals competitor.
Viewers will be able to catch this showdown on Saturday, August 25th in-person or on the league’s Twitch account. Both teams will fight for a chance to win $300,000. The runner-up team will receive $100,000 while the remainder of the $600,000 prize pool will be awarded to the third-eighth place playoffs teams.
